What a travel advisor actually costs
For a hotel booking, nothing. The hotel pays us. For a full itinerary, a planning fee of $50 per person, per day, stated before we start.
Hotel bookings cost you nothing extra. The property pays a commission to the advisor, the rate is the same as booking direct, and the Fora and Virtuoso perks come on top. Room upgrade when available, daily breakfast for two, a property credit, early check-in and late checkout when available.
Planning a full journey is different work. A discovery call, a written proposal, revisions, every transfer and reservation booked and confirmed, and someone reachable while you travel. For that we charge a planning fee of $50 per person, per day, quoted before we start. Hotel-only and cruise-only bookings carry no fee.
What you are paying for is judgment. Which floor, which side of the building, which of the three ryokans is worth the price this month. A search engine gives you 400 options. We give you 3 and the reason for each.
